Email marketing has a return on investment (ROI) of around 4,300%, according to the Direct Marketing Association. The nature of email, that it is sent to someone’s personal space and they have given you permission to contact them and expressed interest in your product, mean that relying on email marketing is a cost-effective way to gain customers.

With so many companies marketing via email, it can be hard to find ways to stand out and make sure your email is read and responded to. If you’d like to harness the power of email in an effective way, you may be interested in hearing how other companies have had success with their campaigns.

Facebook Reviews

Sometimes a potential customer has interest in a product but isn’t confident enough to buy. You can tip the scales by placing Facebook reviews and comments from happy customers right in your email. This provides visual appeal and information people will want to read in a familiar format. Since you should have a Facebook page, and it is likely that most of the companies that make the goods you sell have pages for their goods, it isn’t difficult to find quality content and testimonials to add to a product you’re highlighting in your email.

Transactional Emails

Harness the power of transactional emails by using them as an opportunity to provide customer service and remind your customer of their value. Some companies have started sending emails to customers once their order has arrived, notifying them of the arrival and giving them contact information in case they experience any problems with their order. This type of customer-first approach is helpful for strengthening loyalty and their value. Since this process is automated like much of the rest of transactional emails, it doesn’t even take up valuable time or cost you money regularly. It just gives you happy customers who are more likely to return or recommend you to their friends. Transactional emails of this nature can even provide added benefit to the customer such as giving them tips on using your product or telling them about your company or your team or other products they might be interested in.

Provocative or Edgy Humor

If your company presents itself as trendy, you can even use catchy and possibly provocative or otherwise engaging email titles or references throughout your email. Provide amusing, family friendly youtube clips such as those of animals or babies doing silly things. Provide value and entertainment to your potential customer and build a relationship with them they will want to share with others.

Scarcity Emails

If you’re trying to move a product and want to make sure people will try to respond, use of scarcity triggers is a highly effective tool. Notify people of sales that only have extra savings if they respond today. Short term sales or benefits for responding immediately will drive customer interest. Things like time sensitive free shipping or limited time discounts bring customers.

Make Them Feel Special

Start a bonus rewards club for membership. Save some of your best deals for people who are already customers or who have completed some task to qualify. Making people feel like they’re getting a great deal tailored for them motivates a potential customer to pay attention. Use words that invoke exclusivity like “secret” and “private” to notify customers that they have earned the company’s interest in them and their needs.

There are plenty of creative ways to turn viewers into customers, and these are just a few. If you’re looking to spruce up your email marketing campaign, these tips should help you figure out some ways to do that and expand your customer base as well as keeping your existing one happy.
